Hey, it’s Shihab! I get hooked on a project within hours every time I start coding. My strongest suit is consistency in everything I commit to—whether it’s coding big projects or maintaining academic performance. My passion for problem-solving and commitment to consistency helped me thrive in challenging environments and achive the milestones i set for myself. Apart from these, I’m a big EDM fan and love playing around with my DAW (the software I use to make dance music). I also enjoy swimming, playing soccer, and a bunch of other outdoor activities.

In the current landscape of social media, hashtags play a significant observable role in boosting the movement of information across a diverse range of fields and people. This research aims to identify and then examine extremely popular hashtags on social media and uncover the characteristics that make these hashtags popular. It attempts to follow the hashtag along its journey over time in gaining and losing popularity and in doing so, extrapolates to analyze the boom of past trends over time and the impact that hashtags have in propagating information. The research further tries to create a structure for a network showcasing the propagation of information and interaction between users as they engage using the hashtag in an attempt to understand why and how these hashtags reach such a diversified range of groups and people. It also attempts to be able to predict and forecast the trend and direction of the hashtag and the interaction it generates after the interaction period. Using a mixture of modern techniques such as network science and graph theory concepts, unsupervised machine learning tools, greedy modularity maximization model, and many other natural language processing (NLP) tools such as LSTM, there is the potential to understand the influence of popularity through hashtags and be able to predict the popularity of hashtags.

Work Experience

BRAC University - Student Tutor (Sep 2023- Sep 2024): My responsibilities included providing Lab duty each week helping students to complete tasks, checking assignments of data structures, providing consultation of 60 hours a month and doing certain tasks instructed by course faculty such as taking lab finals, vivas, and others.

Institute of Young Talents (IYT)- Head of Web Development (Sep 2023-Sep 2024): My responsibilities included overseeing the web development team at IYT, focusing on guiding and contributing to significant website projects. My efforts align with IYT's mission to document and transform hidden talents into impactful content for the benefit of a wider audience.

Project ORKO, BRAC University - Committee Member & Tutor (2022): Selected as one of seven individuals from 1000 students to participate in the pilot program at BRAC University's Project ORKO. Involved in designing, developing, and contributing to training modules for the program.

Hult Prize (2022-23), BRAC University - Executive of Content Planning: Produced the official theme song for Hult Prize, featured at official events. Managed audio content for Hult's marketing initiatives, overseeing mixing and mastering. Actively participated in the competition, advancing to the semi-finals.
